CBSE’s Comprehensive Re-evaluation Begins Today

As students await their results with bated breath, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) leaves no stone unturned in ensuring that the evaluation of answer books is carried out with utmost precision, fairness, and transparency. Recognizing the crucial role these evaluations play in shaping students’ academic futures, CBSE has implemented a robust policy for the evaluation process. Let’s delve into the steps taken by the Board to maintain high standards and the procedures in place for students who seek re-evaluation of their marks.
Steps to Ensure Quality Evaluation
CBSE has adopted a multi-faceted approach to ensure that the evaluation process is qualitative, objective, and error-free. Here are some of the key measures:
- Increased Manpower: More staff have been deputed to handle the evaluation work, ensuring that the process is not rushed and each answer book receives due attention.
- Expert Guidance: For subjects like Science and Social Science, Post Graduate Teachers (PGTs) in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, History, Political Science, Geography, and Economics were appointed to guide the evaluators.
- Capacity Building: Training programs were organized for the evaluation team to enhance their skills and ensure a standardized evaluation process.
- Training Videos: Comprehensive training videos were prepared and shown to all personnel involved in the evaluation process to ensure uniform understanding and application of evaluation criteria.
- Experienced Evaluators: Senior teachers with substantial experience were tasked with the evaluation to leverage their expertise.
- Reasonable Workload: Each evaluator was assigned only 20 answer books to evaluate within an 8-hour timeframe, ensuring they could devote adequate time to each script.
- Multiple Checks: Various checks were introduced to verify the correctness of the evaluation, adding an extra layer of scrutiny.
- Standard Operating Procedures: The results were prepared following established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), ensuring consistency and accuracy.
Post-Evaluation: Verification, Photocopy, and Re-evaluation
Despite these meticulous measures, CBSE understands that students may still have concerns about their results. To address this, the Board offers a structured process for verification of marks, obtaining photocopies of evaluated answer books, and re-evaluation.
- Verification of Marks:
- Students can apply for verification of marks online. The processing fee is Rs. 500 per subject.
- The outcome of the verification process will be communicated through the candidate’s login account on the CBSE website. If there is a change in marks, it will be updated online.
- Obtaining a Photocopy of Evaluated Answer Book:
- Only those who have applied for verification can request a scanned copy of their evaluated answer book, for a fee of Rs. 500 per subject.
- The answer book will be provided in a manner that conceals the identity of the evaluator and other officials involved in the process.
- Re-evaluation of Answers:
- Students who have obtained the photocopy of their evaluated answer book can apply for re-evaluation of specific questions at a cost of Rs. 100 per question.
- The status of re-evaluation will be posted online, and any change in marks, whether an increase or decrease, will be final.
Important Considerations for Students
- All applications must be submitted online within the specified schedule. Incomplete or late applications will not be accepted.
- Students should carefully read the guidelines before applying to avoid any inconvenience.
- Only one application per candidate per step is allowed, and students must decide in advance for which subjects they want to apply.
- Processing charges are non-refundable, and the Board is not responsible for any consequences arising from the re-evaluation process.
